# Setting up a Custom Email Address

This page will show you how to setup a custom email address

Send your emails from your own address. Over time, a custom email address improves open rates and makes it less likely your emails land in spam.

## How to set up a custom email address

Go to your organization's [Settings → Domain](https://manager.cymbal.co/settings/domain).

Select **Setup** under **Custom email address**.

Enter your domain name.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Enter a username and subdomain. For example: <hello@mail.cymbal.co>.

Add the DNS records to your domain provider. See [Adding DNS Records](https://docs.cymbal.co/help/setting-up-cymbal/domain-setup-dns/adding-dns-records).

After your domain is connected, Cymbal warms it up by sending only a portion of your emails from your new address at first. See [Custom Email Warmup](https://docs.cymbal.co/help/setting-up-cymbal/email-setup/custom-email-warmup).

## Set up your email address during onboarding

You can also set up your email address in the onboarding wizard. If the [Email](https://manager.cymbal.co/email) tab is empty, select **Get setup** to open email setup on its own.

When asked **Do you have an existing email address for marketing?**, choose one:

* **Yes, I have an existing email address for marketing.** Add your address, then add the DNS records shown.
* **No, I do not have an existing email address for marketing.** Select **Contact support**, and the Cymbal team will walk you through getting a marketing email address. You can keep going with the rest of setup in the meantime.
